You open that door and you realize you’re the same person under the same stars. Camping out in the backyard with your best friend, eleven years old. Sixteen, driving alone, stopping at the edge of the city, looking up at the same stars. Walking a wooded path, kissing in the moonlight, look up and you’re eleven again. Chasing cats in a tiny town, your name in the night sky. You’re anywhere. You’re anything. You’re alive.

We can’t control the universe. We can only (barely) control our own reactions to it. Happiness is largely a choice, not a right or entitlement.

We all make choices about who we are. Sometimes those choices are outside of ourselves, but mostly they come from within. It’s how we deal with them that makes us who we are.

Time is chaos, like you say. It’s what we make of it.

Some people walk into your life and you just know you’ll never be able to replace them if they left.
