In the cave in the woods, in his deep, dark lair, through the long, cold winter sleeps a great brown bear.
Bear snores on.
An itty-bitty mouse, pitter-pat, tip-toe, creep-crawls in the cave from the fluff-cold snow.
The mouse squeaks, "Too damp, too dank!" So he lights wee twigs with a small, hot spark.
The bear wakes up and sniffs the air. "Hey!" says the bear. "Who's been here?"
In comes Hare, dancing from the snow. "I'll warm you up if you don't know how!"
In comes Badger, bundled tight. "I'll fix that fire if it isn't right!"
In comes Gopher, all muddy and damp. "I'll warm you up if you have a cold cramp!"
In comes Mole, in from the ground. "Warm your paws if they're cold, I'm bound."
In comes Wren, flitting through the air. "I'll tweet a tune for you to share."
And they all come back—pitter-pat, tip-toe, creep-close. Open eyes, wide yawn, and one by one, everybody's inside.
In the cave in the woods, all cozy and warm, Bear sleeps on in his great, snore-y form.
