Kurban Said is the pseudonym of Lev Nussimbaum, an enigmatic author born in 1905 in Baku, Azerbaijan. Known for his evocative novels "Ali and Nino" and "The Girl from the Golden Horn," his works blend romance and cultural tensions of the early 20th century. Nussimbaum, who converted to Islam and lived in various European countries, infused his writing with his diverse heritage and experiences until his death in 1942.
