Sogyal Rinpoche was a Tibetan Dzogchen lama known for his influential work, "The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying." Born in 1947, he was raised in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition and educated in India and the West. Sogyal Rinpoche founded Rigpa, an international network of Buddhist centers. His teachings bridged traditional Tibetan Buddhism with contemporary spiritual practice, though his later years were marred by controversy and allegations of misconduct.
Life is nothing but a continuing dance of birth and death, a dance of change.
The greatest achievement is selflessness.
The only way to ease our fear and be truly happy is to acknowledge our fear and look deeply at its source.
To die is different from what any one supposed, and luckier.
Life and death are like two sides of the same coin.
The more you are motivated by love, the more fearless and free your action will be.
The secret of life is to die before you die and find that there is no death.
When you realize how perfect everything is, you will tilt your head back and laugh at the sky.
Do not let the behavior of others destroy your inner peace.
The purpose of life is to be happy.
The greatest mystery of life is not the darkness of death, but the light of life.
The mind is like a parachute. It doesn't work unless it's open.
